Continuation of the Chronicle of Damascus

The Continuation of the Chronicle of Damascus was written by Hamzah ibn al-Quālanisī (c.1071–1160), an educated nobleman who, in his career as an administrator and politician, served the city of Damascus in various positions (including terms as mayor). His Chronicle, which focuses on Damascus and its surrounding area, provides a contemporary account of the First and Second Crusades. This English translation of excerpts from Ibn al-Quālanisī’s Chronicle covers the period from 1097–1102.
