The Poetic Stela of Thutmose III

This granite stela (carved slab) was created during the reign of King/Pharaoh Thutmose III of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt, who ruled from around 1479–1425 B.C.E. It was found in the temple of the god of kingship Amun-Re at Karnak and is now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Thutmose was a successful military leader who co-ruled Egypt with his stepmother Hapshetsut for two decades. This stela contains a poem written as if dictated by Amun-Re that describes how the god will give Thutmose victory.
