About
MSU History Collections
These collections represent primary documents, letters, images, and texts to support research and inquiry about the past. Each collection offers the opportunity to engage with the past on the same terms as those who lived it, largley uninterpreted and unmediated.
Origins and OER
Most of these collections are digitized versions of personal letter collections generously shared with the MSU History Program. Donors have shared the use of these images in the public domain, without restration. Open Educational Resources (OER) labels these and related teaching materials as open access with only limited restrictions, as opposed to traditional copyright.
Copyright and Access
Images of original letters in this collection have been provided with permission in one of two forms: the documents themselves have been donate to MSU or use of images of the documents has been donated. In both cases these materials are part of collections that are meant to be shared. Use for teaching purposes and research is encouraged. MSU retains the rights to this site and its presentation. Usage with acknowledgement and attribution is permitted.
